The wife, who had noticed her husband’s wealth, did not wait. She immediately filed for divorce, taking half of her husband’s property. Juan did not expect such a betrayal, but paid the entire amount in the divorce.

Two wins in a day

The Boeing factory worker did not win such astronomical sums, but he showed the world that his luck was certainly changing. Cary Collis decided to buy an instant lottery ticket at a petrol station. It brought the American $55,000. Cary celebrated with a feast of beer and pizza, and decided to buy three more lottery tickets at the shop.

What was his surprise when one of them also turned out to be a winner. Only the winnings amounted to over two hundred thousand dollars. Thus, the American was able to earn 250 thousand dollars in one day. In an interview with journalists he said that he did not plan to quit his favorite job, even though he had won a lot of money.

Wealth in his old age

A 97-year-old farmer, Nguyen Van Het, has celebrated the Lunar New Year with his family. It is a Vietnamese tradition for people to give each other symbolic amounts of up to four dollars. This money is called lucky money, which is why many Vietnamese keep it for a long time after receiving the gift. Nguyen Van Het is not one of them. He decided to spend his gift on a lottery ticket.

The $310,000 was won by a pensioner, and crowds of needy people immediately began arriving at his home. To prevent Nguyen from being left without money, the authorities decided to disperse the sudden auction of generosity. When asked where the Vietnamese man would put his remaining money, he said he would run to spend it, as he didn’t have much left to live on.

Winning for the needy

Nigerian citizen Rosemary Obiekor used all her lottery winnings to help a needy girl she met on the street. True, she only won $15,000 – not a lot of money, especially compared to people in previous stories. But Rosemary realized that usually such shenanigans do not end well and people get really “drunk” on sudden money.

So Obiekor said at the handing over that she would give the money to the first beggar woman she saw. She turned out to be a woman and her child, to whom the Nigerian gave an impressive sum of money by the country’s standards.

Money turns heads

Obiekor seems to have been inspired by Nadezhda Mukhametzyanova’s story. The Ufa woman, who had worked all her life for little money in a factory, won 29.8 million in the lottery. Instantly she bought several cars and several flats and started making incommensurable expenditures, gifting her children with hundreds of thousands.

This did not end well – one of the flats burned down, both of the cars she bought were smashed up, and the Ufa woman’s children became regular guests at gambling establishments. Mukhametzyanova never returned to the factory, dying in poverty five years after her winnings.
